You have an opportunity to literally explore Rwanda from south to north and to have a glimpse of what generally the country can offer. 5 Days Rwanda Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park.

In the morning, you will be picked by your tour guide from your hotel in Kigali and set off a scenic drive to Nyungwe National Park, with en route stop over at Kings Palace Nyanza to learn about ancient Rwandan royals and then another stop in Butare town to visit the ethnographic museum. Proceed to Nyungwe forest National Park reaching in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Gisakura Guesthouse (budget)/Emeraude Kivu resort (deluxe/mid luxury)/ One and Only Nyungwe house (high end).

 

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and afternoon Forest Canopy Walk.

In the morning, you will set off to the park head office for briefing and then proceed to the forest for chimpanzee tracking adventure. You will trek through this tropical forest and once you catch up with the chimps, you will be allowed to stay with them for a maximum of 1hr as you observe and learn a lot about them from your park guide. You will later return to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, go for

forest canopy walk to get the aerial views of the forest. Dinner and overnight (Day 1).

 

Day 3. Transfer to Volcanoes national park

You will have a morning breakfast and then transfer to volcanoes national park in kinigi via Gisenyi in Ruhengeri. You will pass via tea plantations with spectacular views of the neighbouring communities and beautiful sceneries reaching in the evening. The distance from kibuye to Volcanoes is roughly 3-4 hours drive. Dinner and overnight at Mountain gorilla view lodge/Gorilla solution lodge/ Da Vinci gorilla lodge/Kinigi guest house.

 

Day 4. Gorilla tracking (PNV)

Wake up early and transfer to volcanoes national park headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing about gorilla trekking. At 8:30 am, transfer to the trekking starting point and then hike into the forest to search for mountain gorillas. You will spend an hour with the mountain gorillas and then descend back to the lodge. In the evening, you may go for cultural encounters and interact with the local people. Dinner and overnight at the lodge (day 4).

All the above activities are suitable for those who are reasonably fit.

 

Day 5. Golden monkey tracking and transfer back to Kigali

After breakfast at your lodge, head to park headquarters to be briefed about another thrilling primate experience in the park – golden monkey tracking. Head to the forest and meet these beautiful and colourful primates to conclude your safari with more beautiful memories. Head back to Kigali after the tour for your departure flight.
