This 2-day lake Mburo safari takes you to Lake Mburo National Park for wildlife viewing, bird watching, boat trips, and guided nature walks. The Lake Mburo National Park contains an extensive area of wetland and harbors several species of mammals including zebras, impalas, elands, topi, and buffaloes.

The bird population is also impressive including the rare Shoebill stork. This park is the only place in Uganda where Impala can be found and the best place to see large herds of Elands (Africa’s largest Antelopes). It is also the only park where a guided game walk is possible.

The 2-Day Lake Mburo Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Travel to Lake Mburo National Park

You will depart Kampala after breakfast for Lake Mburo National. The drive takes 3-4 hours with stopovers at areas of tourist attraction such as the Royal Drum makers’ center and at the Equator for an opportunity to stand in both the northern and southern hemispheres at the same time.

You will continue through the savannah grasslands dotted with human homesteads, banana plantations, and several herds of local long-horned Ankole cattle endemic to this part of the country. You will have lunch at the lodge reserved for you after which you will go for a boat trip on Lake Mburo, rich with a variety of water animals such as hippos and crocodiles, and bird species. Overnight will be at your lodge of booking.

Day 2: Game drive and nature walk

You will have an early morning game drive through the park in search of the plain games like zebra, hippos, crocodiles, eland, antelope, impala, and a variety of birds. You will return to your lodge for breakfast and then take a guided nature walk.

This walk takes you to the salt lick area which offers a chance to see at least four different species of animals at any one point while they lick the salty soil. You will return to Kampala arriving late in the afternoon. No meal and accommodation will be provided.
